Interview in an hour and you've done nothing? You can still walk in sharp. Here's the 10-minute version when that's all the time you've got.

Minutes 1-3: Lock your "tell me about yourself"

This is the first question 90% of the time. Don't wing it.

Say it out loud once, in 60 seconds: who you are, one thing you've done, why you want this role. Out loud, not in your head. Hearing it once beats reading it ten times.

Minutes 4-6: Have 3 stories ready

Most behavioral questions are the same few in disguise: a challenge, a time you worked on a team, a time you led or fixed something.

Pick 3 real stories from your life that you can bend to fit. One per category. You don't need to script them, just know which story you'll reach for.

Minutes 7-8: One fact about the company

Google the company name + "news." Find one recent thing, a launch, a raise, an expansion.

Drop it in naturally and you instantly sound like you care more than the last five candidates.

Minutes 9-10: Prep 2 questions to ask them

"Do you have any questions for us?" is part of the interview, not the end of it. Having none reads as not interested.

Two that always work:

  • "What does success look like in this role in the first 90 days?"

  • "What do you enjoy most about working here?"

The mindset that matters most

You were invited because they already think you might be a fit. The interview is them confirming it, not deciding from scratch. Walk in like you belong, because they already think you might.

P.S. We have a FREE interview tool that makes all of this for you to study. All you do is upload the job description and your resume and we generate a custom interview guide. Check it out here: https://app.joinrunway.io/resources/interview-guide
