Hey there!

Welcome to your daily dose of curated early-career opportunities! Your job search shouldn’t feel confusing, late, or based on luck.

Here's what nobody tells you about the job search: it's not about applying to more jobs. It's about being first.

The same role LinkedIn shows you 3-5 days from now is already sitting in a pile of 500 applications. Runway pulls jobs straight from company career sites the moment they post, so you see them first, when there are 15 applicants, not 500.

Who sees the role and applies first is the whole game.

Below are today's freshest early-career roles. See all your matches here:

Your professors are one of the most underused resources you have, and they're right there, included in your tuition. They have industry connections, know about opportunities that never get posted, and can become references or mentors. Most students never say a word to them outside of class. Here's how to actually use these relationships.

Understand what professors can do for you

Professors aren't just graders. Many have worked in industry, consult with companies, run research, and have deep networks. They often hear about internships, research positions, and jobs before anyone else, and they get asked to recommend students.

Building a real relationship with even one or two professors can open doors you didn't know existed. They can vouch for you in ways a stranger never could.

Actually go to office hours

Office hours are blocked out specifically for you, and they're usually empty. That's a gift most students ignore.

You don't need a crisis to go. Show up to ask a thoughtful question about the material, talk about a concept that interested you, or get advice. Just being someone the professor recognizes and thinks well of is worth a lot.

Show genuine interest, not grade-grubbing

There's a difference between engaging with the subject and just chasing points. Professors can tell instantly which one you are.

Ask about the ideas, not just "what's on the exam." Reference something from lecture you found interesting. Curiosity about the actual subject is what makes a professor want to invest in you.

Ask about their path and their field

Professors love talking about their work and how they got there, most people never ask. It's a natural, low-pressure way to build a connection and learn something real.

"How did you get into this field?" or "What do you think students should know about this industry?" opens up genuine conversation and often surfaces advice and connections you'd never have found otherwise.

Do good work and be memorable

Relationships are easier to build when your work speaks for you. Put real effort into their class, contribute thoughtfully, and be reliable.

A professor is far more willing to help and recommend a student whose work they respect. Being engaged and dependable in class is the foundation everything else builds on.

Ask for what you need, specifically

When the time comes, be direct. Need a recommendation? Advice on grad school? An intro to someone in their network? Ask clearly and make it easy for them.

"Would you be willing to write me a recommendation? I can send you my resume and remind you of my work" is far better than a vague ask. Professors want to help students who help them help you.

Stay in touch after the class ends

The relationship shouldn't die when the semester does. A quick update, a thank-you, or a check-in keeps you on their radar.

The professor who taught you sophomore year could be the reference or connection you need senior year, but only if you didn't disappear the moment grades posted.

Do this today: Pick one professor whose class you're in or have taken, and go to their office hours this week, or send a short email. Ask a real question about the field or their path. One genuine conversation is how these relationships start.
