Hey there!

Here's what nobody tells you about the job search: it's not about applying to more jobs. It's about being first.

The same role LinkedIn shows you 3-5 days from now is already sitting in a pile of 500 applications. Runway pulls jobs straight from company career sites the moment they post, so you see them first, when there are 15 applicants, not 500.

Who sees the role and applies first is the whole game.

Below are today's freshest early-career roles. See all your matches here:

It happens to everyone. They ask something and your mind goes blank, or you ramble into a corner, or you realize halfway through that you're not even answering the question.

One bad moment can feel like it sank the whole interview.
It didn't, and here's how to recover:

One bad answer doesn't lose the interview

Interviewers aren't grading you on perfection. They're forming an overall impression across the whole conversation. One shaky answer is a small data point, not a verdict.

The candidate who fumbles one question and stays composed often beats the one who was smooth but forgettable. How you recover is part of what they're evaluating.

If you're mid-ramble, just reset

Caught yourself rambling? Don't keep digging. It's completely fine to stop and restart:

"Let me take that back and answer more directly."

That single line resets the moment and actually signals self-awareness, which interviewers respect. Far better than trailing off into nothing.

If you blank, buy yourself time

Mind goes empty? You don't have to fill the silence instantly. Say:

"That's a good question, let me think about it for a second."

A few seconds of quiet feels like an eternity to you and totally normal to them. A thoughtful pause beats a panicked non-answer every time.

If you realize you missed the question

Sometimes you finish and realize you answered the wrong thing. Just name it:

"Actually, I want to make sure I addressed what you asked, were you looking for X or Y?"

That shows you're listening and you care about getting it right, which is a green flag, not a weakness.

Use the thank-you email as a do-over

This is the move almost nobody uses. If a question genuinely tripped you up, fix it in your follow-up:

"One thing I wanted to revisit, when you asked about [topic], I'd also point to [better answer]."

You get a second shot at the exact question you flubbed. Interviewers notice the effort, and it can flip a weak moment into a memorable one.

Don't let it snowball

The real danger isn't the bad answer, it's letting it rattle you for the next three questions. One stumble becomes five because you're still stuck on the first.

Take a breath, let it go, and lock back in. The next question is a fresh start. Treat it that way.

You got this!
