I looked at 50 student LinkedIn profiles yesterday. 45 of them had headlines like this:
"Student at UCLA"
"Marketing Major | University of Texas"
"Aspiring Data Analyst"
Here's the problem: Recruiters aren't searching for "students." They're searching for skills.
When a recruiter searches "Python developer" or "social media marketing," your profile doesn't show up because nowhere in your headline does it say what you actually do.
Here's what works instead:
❌ Bad: "Business Student at NYU"
✅ Good: "Finance Analyst Intern | Financial Modeling & Data Analysis | Seeking Full-Time Roles"
❌ Bad: "Aspiring Software Engineer"
✅ Good: "CS Student | Python, Java, React | Building full-stack apps"
❌ Bad: "Marketing Major | Penn State"
✅ Good: "Digital Marketing | SEO & Content Strategy | Grew brand accounts 200%+"
