You woke up today thinking "this is my year."
And you're right. It can be.
But I need to be real with you about something:
2026 won't be different just because the calendar changed.
The same resume that wasn't working in December won't magically work in January.
The same spray-and-pray application strategy that got you nowhere won't suddenly get you interviews.
The same generic LinkedIn messages that got ignored won't start getting responses.
If you want different results, you need to do things differently.
Here's what that actually looks like:
Stop doing:
Applying to 50 jobs a week with the same generic resume
Saying "just checking in" in follow-up emails
Listing "hard worker" and "team player" in interviews
Waiting for the "perfect" time to apply
Comparing your timeline to everyone else's
Start doing:
Applying to 10-15 jobs a week with customized resumes
Following up with specific questions that add value
Telling stories with numbers that prove your claims
Applying within 48 hours of a job posting going live
Focusing on your own progress, not everyone else's offers
The hard truth about January:
Everyone is motivated right now. Everyone is applying. Everyone thinks "new year, new me."
The difference between you and them? You're going to be strategic while they're just being busy.
My challenge to you:
Pick ONE thing from this email that you're going to change about your job search.
Just one.
Not "I'm going to do everything perfectly." Just one specific thing you'll do differently starting today.
