You had a great interview. The conversation flowed. They seemed interested. You left feeling good.

Then... nothing. No response. No rejection email. Just silence.

Here's what probably happened:

You forgot to close the loop.

The most common mistake after interviews:

Not explicitly expressing interest in moving forward.

Most candidates end the interview with:
"Thanks for your time!"

And that's it. The interviewer has no idea if you actually want the job or if you're just exploring options.

What you should say at the end of every interview:

"Thank you for your time today. This conversation confirmed that this role is exactly what I'm looking for, and I'm very interested in moving forward. What are the next steps?"

Why this works:

✅ Clearly states you want the job
✅ Asks about next steps (shows initiative)
✅ Gives them a clear action item
✅ Separates you from candidates who are just "exploring"

Then follow up within 24 hours:

Send the thank you email we talked about before. But add this line:

"After our conversation yesterday, I'm even more excited about this opportunity and would love to move forward to the next round."

The hard truth:

If they're choosing between two equally qualified candidates, they'll pick the one who clearly wants the job.

Don't make them guess if you're interested.
