Happy Monday!

Welcome to your daily dose of curated early-career opportunities and tips! Your job search shouldn’t feel confusing, late, or based on luck.

Runway shows you your match percentage for every job, gives resume + skill-gap feedback, and helps you apply smarter instead of applying blindly.

If you want clarity on today’s roles (and thousands more), check your matches here:

I see this in cover letters and interviews all the time:

"I know I don't have much experience, but..."
"I'm just a student, but..."
"I haven't worked in this field yet, but..."

Stop apologizing for being early in your career.

The second you say "I know I don't have experience," you're telling the interviewer to focus on what you lack instead of what you bring.

Here's what they already know:

You're applying for an entry-level role. They KNOW you don't have 10 years of experience. That's why it's called "entry-level."

They're not expecting you to have a senior engineer's resume. They're looking for potential, drive, and proof that you can learn fast.

Instead of apologizing, lead with what you DO have:

Bad: "I know I don't have professional marketing experience, but I'm a fast learner."
Good: "I've run social media campaigns for two student organizations, growing combined followings by 300% in 6 months."

Bad: "I'm just a student, but I'm really passionate about data science."
Good: "I've completed 3 data analysis projects using Python and SQL, one of which is now being used by my professor in his research."

Bad: "I haven't worked in finance yet, but I'm excited to learn."
Good: "I built a stock portfolio tracker that analyzes risk using real-time market data and have been actively trading for 2 years."

See the difference? Same person. Same experience level. But one positions their background as a liability while the other positions it as proof.

What you're really saying when you apologize:

  • "Please lower your standards for me"

  • "I'm not confident in what I bring"

  • "I expect you to doubt me"

What you should be saying:

  • "Here's what I've already accomplished"

  • "Here's how my experience transfers to this role"

  • "Here's proof I can deliver results"

Here’s how to reframe your confidence:

Every time you catch yourself about to say "I know I don't have experience in X, but..."

Replace it with: "I've been building experience in X through..."

Examples:

"I know I don't have professional coding experience"
"I've been coding for 2 years through coursework and personal projects"

"I'm just an intern"
"As an intern at [Company], I..."

"I haven't worked full-time yet"
"Through my internships and projects, I've..."

The truth:

Companies hiring entry-level roles WANT to hire students and recent grads. That's the point.

But they want to hire students who are confident in what they bring, not students who apologize for where they are.

Do this today: Review your cover letter and any saved email templates. Delete every instance of "I know I don't have..." or "I'm just a..." Replace it with what you DO have.

Own your experience level.
Don't apologize for it.

Let’s crush it in 2026!
