Hey there!
Welcome to your daily dose of curated early-career opportunities! Your job search shouldn’t feel confusing, late, or based on luck.
Don't guess if you're qualified. Runway shows your match percentage and tells you exactly what to improve.

You applied to a job. Now you're wondering: When do I follow up?
Most people either:
Follow up immediately (too eager)
Wait 3 weeks (too late)
Never follow up at all (missed opportunity)
Here's the exact timeline that works:
48 hours after applying:
Send a brief LinkedIn message to the recruiter or hiring manager.
"Hi [Name], I applied for the [Role] position yesterday and wanted to express my interest. Quick question: What does success look like in the first 90 days for this role?"
2 weeks after applying (if no response):
Send a polite email checking in.
"Hi [Name], I wanted to follow up on my application for [Role] submitted on [Date]. I'm still very interested and would love to discuss how my experience with [relevant skill] aligns with your needs. Are there any updates on the timeline?"
After an interview:
Send thank you email within 24 hours (we covered this before).
1 week after interview (if no update):
"Hi [Name], I wanted to check in on the [Role] position. I'm still very interested and excited about the opportunity. Is there any additional information I can provide?"
What NOT to do:
❌ Follow up every 3 days (you're annoying them)
❌ Say "just checking in" with nothing else (adds no value)
❌ Get defensive or pushy (never helps)
❌ Follow up on weekends (wait until Monday)
The one exception:
If they said "We'll get back to you by Friday" and Friday passes with no word, wait until Monday afternoon to follow up.
Give them the weekend, then check in.
Why most people don't follow up:
They're afraid of being annoying.
But here's the truth: Following up shows interest. Not following up shows you don't really care.
One polite follow-up won't hurt you. Radio silence might.
Do this today:
Check your job tracker. Any applications older than 2 weeks with no response? Send a follow-up email today.
Any interviews from last week with no update? Follow up.
Be persistent, not pushy.
