If it's anything like:

You're making a bad first impression before they even open it.

Here's what your resume file should be named:

FirstName_LastName_Resume.pdf

Example: Ford_Coleman_Resume.pdf

Why this matters:

When a recruiter downloads 50 resumes in one day, they all go into the same folder.

If yours is named "resume.pdf" and someone else's is also "resume.pdf," one of them gets overwritten or renamed to "resume(1).pdf"

Now the recruiter has no idea whose resume is whose.

Even worse file names:

❌ Document1.pdf
❌ Untitled.pdf
❌ My_Resume_Final_Draft.pdf
❌ [YourName]_Resume_2024.pdf (it's 2026, update it)

The professional format:

FirstName_LastName_Resume.pdf

Or if applying to a specific role:

FirstName_LastName_CompanyName_Resume.pdf

Example: Ford_Coleman_Google_Resume.pdf
