Hey!
Welcome to your daily dose of curated early-career opportunities! Your job search shouldn’t feel confusing, late, or based on luck.
Runway shows you your match percentage for every job, gives resume + skill-gap feedback, and helps you apply smarter instead of applying blindly.
If you want clarity on today’s roles (and thousands more), check your matches here:
Let’s be real.
Most people hate “networking” because it feels like this:
Cold messaging strangers and hoping they help you get a job.
That’s not networking.
That’s begging with extra steps.
The mistake early-career candidates make
You’ve probably sent a message like:
“Hi, I’m a student interested in your company. Would love to chat!”
And then… nothing.
Not because you’re unqualified.
Because there’s no reason for them to respond.
What networking actually is
Networking is not asking for favors.
It’s building familiarity.
People help people they recognize and remember — not people who show up asking for things.
The message that actually works
Instead of asking for a “chat,” do this:
“Hey [Name], I’m a [student/recent grad] interested in [field]. I saw you worked on [specific team/project] and had a quick question about how you broke into that role. No worries if now’s not a good time.”
Why this works:
It’s specific
It’s low pressure
It asks for ONE thing
You’re starting a conversation, not pitching yourself.
How this turns into real opportunities
You ask your question.
They answer.
You thank them.
That’s it.
Later — when you apply — you follow up:
“Hey [Name], thanks again for the advice earlier. I just applied to the [Role] and really appreciated your insight.”
Now you’re not a stranger.
Do this today
Find one person:
1–5 years ahead of you
In the role you want
At a company you’re applying to
Send one thoughtful message.
You don’t need 50 coffee chats.
You need a few real conversations.
That’s networking — without the cringe.
